In
1977 the North Carolina General Assembly enacted N.C.G.S. 116-36.1,
charging the Board of Governors of The University of North Carolina
System with the custody and management of all non-appropriated
University funds, and directed them to adopt uniform policies
and procedures for the administration of these funds. From this
directive, came
the Administrative Memoranda and other guidance provided by
General Administration.
The two largest ranges of accounts that fall under the Sponsored
Programs Endowments and Trust Funds Office are 2XXXXX (unrestricted)
and 6XXXXX (restricted). These account ranges include overhead,
operating, discretionary, and restricted and unrestricted gift
accounts. You can also receive assistance with account ranges
070XXX (loan funds) and
9XXXXX (agency or fiduciary funds) from the Endowments and Trust
Funds Office.
It is important to note that although the donor or other source
of funds may have placed no restrictions, the underlying General
Statutes always apply to the use of these funds. |
