Q. How are funds transferred to the University from the Foundation? 

A. The Foundation receives a weekly financial report that lists each University account that is supported by the Foundation with a "deficit cash balance". The report also lists the cash balance for each Foundation related account. The University negative cash balance is compared to the cash balance held in the Foundation related account number and the available amount of cash to transfer is calculated. There is an attribute for "Type of Funding" for each University spending account. The attribute "07" or "08" signify that the account is supported by the Foundation of The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Inc. An attribute of "16" signifies that the account is supported by The Athletic Foundation of The University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  

         Q. How do I know in advance how much Foundation cash is available to spend? 

A. To determine the available cash balance, you will first need to obtain the necessary security clearance to access the financial record system. Then display screen 018. To display this screen, enter 018 in the Screen field and the six digit account number in the Acct field. Now locate the column definition CTL just below the heading portion of the screed and look below to find the line beginning with the number 1100. Read this line across to the last column titled Current Bal. The number in this column will indicate the current balance available. If the number is negative (-), there is a deficit cash balance. To determine the total cash position, sum the balance for the account control (Ctl) number 1100 for both Foundation and University related accounts.
