The
Foundation of The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Inc. and The Athletic Foundationof
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte are two chartered bodies specifically establishedand
authorized to accept gifts from private sources for the benefit of the University.

The
Office of The Foundation and Other Entities administer funds received through
these twoFoundations whose
common purpose it is to further the educational goals of The University ofNorth
Carolina at Charlotte. The staff is
responsible for the maintenance and performance allall
accounting and tax functions for these two independent corporate entities. Each corporation isorganized
under Chapter 55A of the General Statues of North Carolina and is a tax-exemptorganization
under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Therefore, gifts or contributionsto
either entity meeting the requirements of the Internal Revenue Code under Section
170 willqualify as a tax deductible
contribution.
OTHER ENTITIES
The
Office of The Foundation and Other Entities staff also perform the accounting
and tax functionsfor University Research Park, Incorporated which was organized to foster and stimulate
the physical,economic and social
growth and development of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County to benefit itscitizens. The staff also offers accounting support to
The Ben Craig Center, Inc. which was organizedto
develop the entrepreneurial potential of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County by developing a favorable
environment for the formation of new businesses.
These efforts undertaken to developthe
growth of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County are extremely important factors to the local community
from which the University seeks
its students and therefore, greatly benefits the University.
